About Ingle Farm:
Location and Boundaries
Ingle Farm is bounded by Maxwell Road and Milne Road in the north, Nelson Road, Montague Road and Redhill Road in the east, Wright Road in the south and Bridge Road in the west.
Ingle Farm is named after an original property in the area.
Settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s, with land used mainly for farming. Growth took place in the late 1800s. Significant development did not occur until the 1960s. In 1965 the South Australian Housing Trust began construction in the area, with 2,500 houses completed by 1975. The population gradually declined between 1991 and 2006, a result of few dwellings being added and a decline in the average number of persons living in each dwelling. The population was relatively stable between 2006 and 2011.
Ingle Farm is an established residential area, with a commercial area.
Major features of the area include Ingle Farm Shopping Centre, Ingle Farm Recreation Centre, Baloo Reserve, Finnis Reserve, Kelvin Reserve, Rowe Park, Walkley Park and numerous schools.
