About Salisbury Downs:
Location and Boundaries
Salisbury Downs is bounded by Burton Road and Spains Road in the north, the railway line in the east, Kings Road in the south and the Little Para River in the west.
Salisbury is named after a town in Wiltshire, England.
Settlement of the area dates from the late 1800s. Significant development did not occur until the post-war years, with rapid growth from the 1970s. The population fluctuated slightly from the early 1990s, due to small changes in dwelling stock and the average number of persons living in each dwelling.
Salisbury Downs is an established residential area.
Major features of the area include Hollywood Plaza, Amsterdam Reserve, Salisbury Downs Oval, Woodfield Reserve and a number of schools.
